Quake Dogs is a book filled with stories about dogs experiences during the Earthquakes of 2010-2011 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I’ve been working on the Quake Dogs Project with the author Laura Sessions for the past few months and as release day approaches we are both so excited to share these true stories and photographs with you. Quake Dogs will be available in all good bookstores across New Zelanad on October 4th, there will be plenty of online retailers for those overseas who want to get hold of a copy too.
Working with Laura on Quake Dogs has been an incredible experience and we have laughed and cried at almost every story we have heard, so much so that we have probably boosted tissue sales in New Zealand in the first few months of 2013! I’ve put together a little video clip so you can see what Quake Dogs is all about…
Quake Dogs contains almost 70 different stories and as release day approaches I’ll be sharing some of the statistics of how many dogs we’ve met, locations we’ve photographed them in, some of the crazy things that have happened during our time working on the book. Of course I’ll be showing you some of the images I have taken as well.
Quake Dogs Launch Party
To Celebrate the book’s release, Laura and I are hosting a launch party on Saturday October 5th at the Pallet Pavilion, 70 Kilmore St. Members of the public are invited to join us there from 2pm, you are welcome to bring your dogs along too!
We’ve got lots of exciting stuff lined up including an exhibition of images from the book, which we’ll be auctioning off to raise further funds for HUHA, a charity that helped the animals of Christchurch enormously during the earthquakes. There will be guest speakers, Pupcakes courtesy of Topdog Barkery; a complimentary ‘brush and bow’, nail clipping or teeth brushing; soothing acoustic music; and other well-deserved doggy indulgences, and plenty for us humans too!
Join our event page on Facebook to find out all the details. We can’t wait to see you there.
