Today the UK Kennel club announced the winners of their annual Dog Photographer of the Year Competition.

Each year hundreds of photographers around the globe send in their best canine imagery to be judged by an expert panel in the hopes of winning the title of Dog Photographer of the Year. This year over 10,000 entries from 70 different countries were received.

I got a call from the very lovely Heidi, curator of photography at the Kennel club, and she informed me that one of my entires had been successful this year.

I had won 3rd prize in the Assistance Animals category for my image of Delta the White German Shepherd and her owner Dion. This prize made even more meaningful as it was an image I’d captured of the pair for the Kotuku Foundation for Assistance Animals Aotearoa, a charity I am an ambassador for.

I’m beside myself with joy to see this image of such a beautiful moment between a man and the dog who changed his life being seen in publications all around the world and hearing it is making people smile.

Check out all the winning images on the Dog Photographer of the Year website. Congratulations to all the winners, especially Monica van der Maden who was the overall winer for her gorgeous image of an elderly great dane.
