I recently headed out to the beautiful village of Little River, my subject was Rocket, an elderly Greyhound. Mr Rocket, AKA Rocky, AKA George Clooney (on account of his distinguished grey features), is an ex-racing dog, who had a fairly successful career on the tracks and his official racing name was Rocky Pockets. Tim & Faye, Rocket’s owners told me “he was the first Greyhound in Little River, and being the amazing regal character he is, another 3 Greyhounds were homed [here].” Sadly Rocket has been diagnosed with a bone tumour on his elbow and his prognosis isn’t too good. He was a wonderful model throughout our shoot and despite his limp, he was very accommodating and only to happy to oblige in exchange for fresh home-baked scones! Rocky’s gentle nature makes him a great ambassador for Greyhounds as Pets, and he certainly left his mark on me during the session, he was a sweetheart. Since his session I’ve been told he’s responding well to a variety of treatments, including acupuncture, and his limp has all but disappeared. Tim, Faye & Lily, thank you for welcoming me into your home and introducing me to Rocket, he is certainly a very special boy. These are just a few of my favourites from the day.
